1885 Burger Store has a variety of gourmet burgers that are definitely better than most offered in Taipei. They have beef, chicken, or fish for burger choices. You can also choose which type of bread you want with your hamburger: ciabatta, wheat, or white. They're all good, but ciabatta is my favorite. It's not common for burger joints to offer ciabatta bread, making it pretty unique. Their beef patties are mouth-wateringly juicy, contain a good amount of salt, are big enough, and have a distinct beefy-goodness taste. The fries are always served hot and crispy with a scrumptious bread-covering. I have found that Taipei doesn't have a hard time offering excellent fries. 1885 Burger Store is similar to the best burger restaurants in America because of their delicious hamburgers, fries, milkshakes, breakfasts, and desserts (including the best brownie I've had in Taipei). This place is not a failed Taiwanese American-style burger place. It's the real deal! This is a bold statement that I'm about to make and stand behind: "1885 Burger Store is my favorite burger place in Taipei."
They also have American-style breakfasts, which are some of the best that can be found in Taipei. I highly recommend their breakfast dishes as much as I recommend their burgers. You can get 15% off their breakfast if you visit them at the right time (see picture below for times).
Another important matter to address is that 1885 Burger Store has kept the same quality, proportions, prices (for the most part), and consistency throughout the five years that I've been dining at their establishments (they currently have two locations, both of which reflect said statement). This statement may not seem that important in Western countries, but in Taipei, where the dining seen is one of the ficklest places on Earth, it is very, very important. I have dined at countless restaurants and cafes that I used to recommend or highly recommend, only to find that their ratings dropped due to one or more of the issues in said statement. I'm also aware that there are restaurants that I still recommended on JET that would lose their recommendation-rating if I were to return--there is no way that one person can keep all their reviews up to date; it would be insane and unintelligent to even try. So far, I'm very happy to say that 1885 Burger Store is not one of said restaurants. Let's hope they keep their outstanding quality for the duration. Vegetarian options: They have four sandwiches that are marked vegetarian that come with your choice of ciabatta, wheat, or white bread served with French fries: Vegetables with Havarti Cheese (NT$130), Mushroom with Vegetables Havarti Cheese (NT$160), Avocado with Havarti Cheese (NT$170), and Saute Pears with Havarti Cheese (NT$160). Mushroom Eggs Benedict Brunch (NT$250), Avocado Salad (NT$170), Fresh Salad (NT$90), [maybe] Egg Salad (NT$170), Mushroom Brunch (NT$220), Desserts, Milkshakes, and Smoothies.
