The weird thing is that Bigtom is made in Washington State, USA, where I'm from, but I had never heard of Bigtom ice cream until I went to Taiwan. On my first visit at the Danshui location, the server told me that all their ingredients are from American and all their ice cream is made in their plant in Washington State, USA. I told him that is where I'm from, and he said, "Oh, you must have had it in American then." I told him they don't sell it in America. I found this kind of weird, but cool to be trying for the first time in Taiwan an ice cream brand made from my home state. Several months later, I revisited Bigtom at their Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall location for this review.
The waffles can be ordered with maple syrup or with ice cream scoops on it. I'm talking about real waffles, not crunchy waffle cones, although they have those too. They're American style, and really good I might add, not like the hard Taiwanese-style waffles that feel like they might get caught in your throat and choke you if you don't chew it for a long time, haha. Bigtom's ice cream is all natural and uses less sugar than the other ice cream brands. Some of the ice cream flavors are not as creamy tasting as other leading brands, but this is the way they make it on purpose, and it ends up being healthier than other brands because of it; I should probably say not as unhealthy. Even though some of their items are quite tasty, all of their items are definitely overpriced. If you include price in my recommendation, I wouldn't recommend Bigtom.
