I've been to Chili's a few times in The USA and didn't care for their food enough to keep coming back. After my visit to Chili's in Taipei, I can say that it's just like the USA restaurant chain locations; in this case that is a bad thing. They have some good dishes, but overall most of the dishes are just mediocre, and their Taipei locations are much more expensive than their American locations. I would like everyone who is not American, especially Taiwanese, to know that this restaurant chain is not a good representation of good American food, so please don't judge American food by your visit to Chili's; America does offer a lot of delicious food.
*UPDATE: I ate at Chili's again with a friend and he was correct in his statement, "You just need to know what to order at Chili's because a lot of their choices are mediocre." Although, I can't recommend Chili's as a whole, I can very much recommend their appetizers, ribs, and desserts. I didn't care for any of their burgers, Tex-Mex items, or sandwiches. Also, Chili's in Taipei is much more expensive than it is in America.
Items I tried: (sorry, I didn't take note of the prices because I thought they would be listed on Chili's online menu. It appears they don't list the prices because they don't want to scare people away. Chili's in Taipei is much more expensive than it is in America.
BBQ Ranch Burger: The beef patty was devoid of any real taste, leaving the burger completely bland.
Full Rack of Ribs (Original & Memphis dry rub): Ribs are one of the items I can recommend at Chili's. They were pretty tender and the BBQ sauce is tasty. A side dip of BBQ sauce is given for those who like a lot of sauce with their ribs. Also, you get to choose two small sides with your ribs. We chose the mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. Both of which were good.
Classic Nachos: Delicious nachos with a lot of cheese and your choice of sauce dip. However, it was completely overpriced for the serving amount.
Brownie Sundae (dessert): Completely delicious; rich brownie with quality vanilla ice cream. At least I can recommend the desserts at Chili's.
Texas Cheese Poppers (appetizer): Deep fried balls stuffed with 2 or 3 kinds of cheese (I forget) inside. It's served with ancho-ranch dipping sauce. It's as rich, fatty, and delicious as the best American appetizers are. Beware, heaps of cheese may shock your system.
Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie (dessert): It's a skillet-sized chocolate chip cookie, topped with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of hot fudge. This dessert easily feeds two people or three to four light eaters. The cookie was moist and delicious and the vanilla ice cream was of quality stock. Another delicious dessert at Chili's.
