_Domino's in Taiwan is different than in America. Domino's tends to change the style of their pizza based on the countries' taste. I've ate Domino's in Mexico and it had some pretty weird choices that I didn't care for at all like spicy jalapeno shrimp pizza. Domino's in America changed its recipe on December 2009 from the crust up, but I haven't been in the states since then so I haven't been able to try it yet. From what I've read they only changed the recipe in the USA.
Domino's in Taiwan has some unique choices and that is what I will be focusing on since everyone is familiar with normal choices like pepperoni and Hawaiian. I ordered the two most unique choices they had by looking at the pictures and the ingredients: Honey Octopus and California BBQ Smoked Chicken (doesn't sound different but it includes corn and mayonnaise). The Honey Octopus was almost like a dessert pizza because of the sweetness of the honey, but it wasn't overly sweet and all the rest of the toppings worked really nice together, including the patterned mayonnaise on top. The California BBQ Smoked Chicken is actually not to different than the toppings you'd find on a similar pizza at California Pizza Kitchen in the USA, except for the corn and the mayonnaise. Again, the mayonnaise, which is actually a Japanese influence instead of Taiwanese, works really nice with the pizza, but I'm not a fan of corn on pizza. Luckily, there wasn't much of it so it didn't put me off and I ended up enjoying this choice as well. I was very surprised that I ended up liking these two choices so much and Domino's period. I didn't try their Square Puff pizza because it looked too small for the price and didn't come with any of the deals. I dismissed it as one of those short lived food gimmicks.
The best deal they have is buy 1 and get 1 free pizza of the same size, including jumbo size, for carryout. For delivery it is buy 1 large/jumbo and get 1 small free. Their Taiwanese website doesn't specify a time, but the Domino's I visited said you can only get that deal during lunchtime: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. So I will do that next time and this time I went with a deal they had that was 1 large pizza, 1 small pizza, chicken wings (normal, honey, or spicy), and a 1.25L Pepsi for NT$699 -- great deal considering the large I got would've cost NT$630 alone. So if you want a deal and it is outside of lunchtime, just grab one of their flyers they have on the counter and see what the latest deals are. It is all in Chinese, but it shows the items and the number for the pizza's diameter so it is easy to understand. The spicy chicken wings were the same as in the USA -- good -- and I also ordered a side of garlic potato puffs, mostly because they were in star and moon shapes; yeah, their little marketing ploy worked on me. You could barely taste the garlic so it just tasted like a very bland puffed potato item.
On my second visit, I went during lunchtime to get the buy one pizza get one free. I got a small "All America" which is just pepperoni and a small Lobster Deluxe. The pepperoni pizza was just like back in the USA before Domino's changed their recipe, except they give you a little let cheese and pepperoni in Taiwan. It is Domino's original pizza recipe, what can I say, everything about it screams bland and just OK from crust to toppings and like I said before, it is even worse in Taiwan being that there is less cheese and pepperoni. The Lobster Deluxe was just OK as well. First, there was no lobster like in the picture, they must have been out or they just lie because there was shrimp in its place. Taiwan restaurants are infamous for doing stuff like this -- so annoying. If you are out of something, just tell us, don't try to trick us. The "Japanese sauce" that they put in the middle has nothing to do with Japan and tastes pretty slimy and unpleasant. On my first visit I gave Domino's an I recommend rating, but now I can see that I just happened to order the two best pizzas they have the first time. So if you're going to try Domino's in Taiwan, stay away from the usual favorites and most of the too weird choices. I recommend the Honey Octopus and the California BBQ Smoked Chicken if you're going to visit Domino's in Taiwan, against my recommendations.
Vegetarian options: Cream Sauce Pepper Pizza and a Cheese Pizza.
