Shrimp Daddy is one of the very few places in Taipei where one can have an American-seafood-dining experience. Every American is familiar with seafood restaurants in the USA where you can dig into crab legs, lobster, clams, etc. with a wooden mallet, and dip the goods into a bowl of butter with salt and maybe garlic. If you miss this type of food while in Taipei, Shrimp Daddy is here to fill in this dining niche. Shrimp Daddy provides all the popular boiled seafood options: king crab legs, lobster, shrimp, mussels, clams, and squid.
They also have some deep-fried seafood options like calamari, oysters, and fish & chips. They don't stop there; they also have Creole food like gumbo, Jambalaya, and po' boys, offering a little bit of the Louisiana food scene. But that's not all; in addition to their regular menu, they offer Mexican food every Thursday, which they call "Shrimp Daddy's Tequila-licious Thursdays." The head chef, Robert Montano, who studied at California School of Culinary Arts, and is a born and raised Cali-boy, creates different Mexican food options--the Thursday Mexican menu alters regularly--some traditional and some unique Mexican-Asian fusion tacos. The corn tortillas used for the tacos are made from scratch, and are downright delicious. This is a Taipei location to add to your mental-map for Mexican food--the best tamales and tacos I've had in Taipei!
There are also many alcohol options, such as beer, wine, and cocktails, making it a nice drinking location as well, where you can pop munchies (calamari, wings, fries, fried mantou, etc.) into your gullet while you down drinks and chat with your friends. If you really want to party, there are two beer pong tables and an electric dartboard in the basement-seating area. There is also a piano and an overhead projector in the basement, which can be booked for private events, birthdays, or other gatherings.
Vegetarian options: Since it's a seafood restaurant, it isn't a place for vegetarians, unless you're a vegetarian that eats seafood: aquatarians.
